On my trip to Hong Kong, I bought the Xiaomi redmi 1s for $1000HKD and today I read an article that talks about the release of the Redmi Note 2 Prime. Well, I am officially outdated because the Note 2 Prime technically doubles my RAM and storage as well as size. Equiped with 13MP back and 5MP front cameras and integrating MIUI’s camera app makes the quality of the picture almost equivalent to the HD moments you are able to capture with an Apple Isight camera. The massive 5.5 inch 1920×1080 full HD display sounds pretty good but can it handle the intense graphics of today’s games? Gaming on my 1s is actually decent for basic games like pilot simulator but I mainly use my 1s for social networking. The RAM is decent at 2GB which is pretty much a standard now with Oneplus starting the Oneplus 1 with 3GB RAM and the Asus zenfone 2 with 4GB RAM.
Finally we got the MIUI 7 experience. After about a month of MIUI use, I found it resembling Apple’s IOS a lot from several of it’s features but it still packs the great 3rd party Android experience. The simplicity of MIUI actually gives Xiaomi the winning edge by putting the elegance of Apple into a wallet friendly device that is less than $200 a unit.
